$2.7billion takeover of French lottery giant by Kindred comes with caveat

French antitrust authorities have approved Française des Jeux, the country's lottery monopoly, to acquire the Kindred Group, a massive online gambling company listed on the Stockholm stock exchange, for a projected $2.7 billion.

Nonetheless, Française des Jeux's monopolistic business and its commercial operations needed to be clearly distinguished from one another, according to the Competition Authority. That implies that Kindred's products cannot be cross-marketed to its lottery and sports betting clients by Française des Jeux, a former state-owned company.
