A prop bet, short for "proposition bet," is a type of wager in which a person bets on the occurrence or non-occurrence of a specific event or outcome that is not directly related to the final score of the game. These types of bets are often made on individual player or team statistics, such as the number of touchdown passes thrown in a game, or the number of rebounds a player will grab. Prop bets can also be made on events that take place off the field, such as the color of the Gatorade dumped on the winning coach.
