According to BCLC, the province is in the lead regarding limitations on online gaming advertisements.

British Columbia will not be obligated to follow Ontario's footsteps in the ban on using athletes in online gambling advertisements. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario recently announced that this ban would take effect in February 2024. Furthermore, the restriction on utilizing celebrities, including role models and social media influencers, as well as any symbols that may attract minors, will only apply to our neighbors in the east.

No way, that's interesting that BC isn't following Ontario's lead on banning athlete endorsements in gambling ads. I know those kinds of ads can be influencing, especially on young people. At the same time, advertising helps the industry so it's a balancing act.
