Addiction specialists urge Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to rethink self-exclusion decision

Pennsylvania gaming regulators are being urged to reevaluate a proposed modification to the state's self-exclusion program for casino gambling by addiction experts and mental health treatment providers.

A self-excluded person must apply to have their gaming privileges reinstated after their one- or five-year exclusion period ends under the current structure of the responsible gaming protocol. Lifetime bans that are self-excluded are irrevocable and cannot be lifted at the individual's request.

I think the specialists’ appeal underscores the importance of prioritizing responsible gambling measures. Revisiting self-exclusion policies could enhance protections for vulnerable individuals and demonstrate a commitment to addressing gambling addiction effectively.
