A craftsman with the Mumbai police force, who was accused of shooting and injuring two cousins in Bhiwandi, was experiencing a financial predicament after losing approximately ₹50 lakh in online gaming, investigations revealed. In order to settle his debts, he focused on individuals in secluded regions of Bhiwandi and stole from them. The police officer was identified as Suraj Dhokre, 37. As per Padgha police officials, Dhokre had obtained loans totaling ₹40-50 lakh from various banks and was unable to repay the sum. To make some quick cash, he made the decision to apprehend individuals in remote locations during the nighttime, stated an officer.
