After purchasing a $5 lotto scratch ticket, a man leaves with a $1 million reward.

A guy who purchased a $5 scratch-off ticket has won $1 million. According to a press statement from the Florida Lottery, Thomas Hoshko of Florida, won the one-million-dollar prize while playing the Gold Rush Doubler scratch-off game. Hoshko decided to take a single lump-sum payout of $685,000.00 as his reward. His winning ticket was bought at the Publix in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, and the merchant will now get a $2,000 extra commission. The Florida Lottery estimates that 77 percent of ticket sales in 2021–2022 were from scratch-off games.
