Alabama bill seeks to increase punishment for illegal gambling

A recently introduced bill could mean harsher punishments for those who profit from illegal gambling in Alabama, among other states. Earlier this week, the proposal was presented. In the end, the bill aims to deter crime by stiffening the penalties for offenses relating to gambling.

At the moment, offenses involving gambling are classified as Class A misdemeanors and subject to charges. If found guilty of such crimes, a person faces a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a fine of $6,000.
