Albania has lifted a ban on online sports betting that was put in place in 2018 to combat organized crime.
Prime Minister Edi Rama reversed the decision after realizing that crime remained high and underground gambling was causing economic harm.
The new law allows online sports betting under the control of 10 regulated companies. However, some critics oppose the move, fearing increased crime and social problems.
