Alberta government looking to embrace gambling market with new directive

The government of Alberta announced plans to reduce funding for nonprofit organizations that offer resources to people with gambling addictions while allowing private operators to enter the gambling market.

For a while now, Alberta has been working to legalize internet gambling, and in 2024, it made major progress.

Plans call for cutting more than $1 million in funding, which will impact disability advocacy groups and gambling resource networks.
