Alleged A-League betting scandal set to cost footballer place at Oceania World Cup

An All Whites mainstay from New Zealand is worried about the "damage" his arrest for suspected betting corruption has done to his bright future.

Following an inquiry by NSW police, he was one of three Macarthur FC players detained on Friday for suspected yellow-card manipulation in A-League games this season.

Because of their arrest, their A-League prospects are now uncertain.

However, one of them, an Olympian in the past, was expected to be included in the New Zealand team for the forthcoming Oceania Nations Cup.
