Seven individuals, one of whom is a citizen of the United States, have been detained on suspicion of operating an illegal mahjong betting website.
Officers are looking into the organization behind the Dora Mahjong site and believe that a 36-year-old American and the other six accused made a total of roughly $15.3 million running it over more than ten years. Additionally, the police said that this is the first time that suspected operators of online casinos have been detained in Japan.
