American Gaming Association opposes the Federal Problem Gambling proposal

The AGA has declared its opposition to the GRIT Act and will continue to educate Congress on the need for bipartisan legislation that removes the excise tax on companies that offer legal sports betting. It is believed that this action is required to make it easier for Americans to move into the safety net of the regulated market.

The GRIT Act suggests designating half of the revenue from the federal excise tax for programs and research pertaining to problem and responsible gambling. This would have allotted $125 million for these projects using data from 2023.
