Stack sizes greatly impact proper decision making at the poker table. When players have similar stack sizes, they can often call each other's bets and play more hands. However, when one player has a much bigger stack, that player has more freedom to make larger bets and bluffs. Small-stack players often need to tighten up their ranges and only play the strongest hands. They must also be careful not to get their short stacks all-in against a big stack's stronger holdings. Large stack advantages enable players to apply pressure through consistent raises, isolating weaker opponents and stacking them off their chips. Therefore, stack sizes create different strategic challenges for players that they must properly adjust to in order to play their 'A' game.
