The GST Council made the correct decision to stand by its position and will tax online gambling at the highest rate of 28%.
The Council's recent judgment, which brings online gaming on level with betting, gambling, and lotteries in terms of Goods and Services Tax (GST), is a reiteration of its position from July 11. There have also been a ton of much-needed explanations released following the review meeting on August 2. For instance, the tax will not be repeated and will only be assessed on the entrance amount, not on the gains that have been reinvested. But rather of using the less onerous technique proposed by the corporations based on (GGR), the fee will be based on the full face value.
