Arkansas citizens group seeks to rescind casino license planned for Pope County

Through a statewide ballot referendum, a citizens' group in Arkansas named Local Voters in Charge is attempting to revoke the commercial casino license designated for Pope County.

The Arkansas Attorney General's office has received a proposed constitutional amendment from Local Voters in Charge.

Furthermore, the proposed referendum aims to mandate that the final say on the project must go to the local voters in a county that is being considered for a casino in the future. A special election would be held to do that throughout the entire county.
