Arkansas lottery dispute results in split of $500,000 prize

A dispute between an employee and his supervisor over a $500K lottery scratch-off ticket was resolved by an Arkansas judge on Tuesday. The prize will be divided 50/50 between the two.

The defendant asserted that the money was rightfully his since the claimant gave it to him for the purchase of two tickets, and he used it to purchase two more for himself, one of which was the winner. He denied that a deal to divide the winnings had been reached.

An Arkansas judge ruled that a $500K lottery scratch-off ticket prize be divided equally between an employee and his supervisor. The supervisor had purchased the ticket using money the employee had given him for two tickets, one of which turned out to be the winner. The supervisor claimed that the money was his by right, as he bought the ticket for himself, and denied any prior agreement to share the winnings. Despite the disagreement, the judge's decision was to split the prize 50/50 between the two parties.
