Arkansas resident suppresses celebration of $500,000 lottery prize

A man from Arkansas refrained from celebrating winning a $500,000 scratch-off lottery prize until he was certain it was genuine.

One Arkansas resident left a convenience store expecting to take a snack, but instead took home a $500,000 lottery prize.

He stopped at Wa Wa Mart on Baseline Road in Little Rock, as he usually does, because he was craving a snack and a drink as part of his daily routine.

He chose to pick up a ticket while he was at the store because he frequently plays the lottery and prefers scratch-off games. He selected a $20 "200X the Win" instant game ticket. In the store, he immediately set to work and started scratching it off.

I find it admirable that the winner refrained from overly celebrating until they were certain the prize was genuine. Maintaining composure and verifying the winnings is a testament to their character and understanding of the gravity of such a substantial sum.
