Atlantic City casino workers union issues support for smoking ban

Legislation aimed at forcing the nine gaming floors in Atlantic City to prohibit smoking is backed by a union that represents table game dealers there.

The United Auto Workers is the representative of dealers at Caesars, Bally's, and Tropicana, the three casinos in the area. Exposure to hazardous secondhand smoke is a requirement of their continued employment.

As of right now, specific areas on Atlantic City floors are open to smoking. A casino's gaming floor area cannot have more than 25% designated for tobacco smoking.
