Australia cracks down on online gambling with credit card and crypto ban

The Australian government forbade the use of credit cards and cryptocurrency for online gambling in order to prevent its citizens from squandering money they don't have.

Companies that don't follow the new regulations risk fines of up to $155,000, according to the government.

Credit cards connected to digital wallets and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are included in the regulations.

Australia's land-based gambling laws are in line with the new regulations for online betting. But there are still some instances where credit cards are accepted, such as when making online lottery purchases.

It is a welcome development. It is better to help people who are addicted to gambling and make policies which will restrict them from using loan or credit to gamble.
