Internet service providers have been instructed by Australia's communications watchdog to block an additional twelve gambling websites.
The request was made by the Australian Communications and Media Authority after it was discovered through investigations that the services were not compliant with the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001.
Approximately 926 illicit gambling and affiliate websites have been blocked since the authority submitted its initial blocking request in November 2019. Since the organization began enforcing laws against offshore gambling, over 220 illicit services have left the Australian market, according to the agency.
