Bally's Bronx casino proposal faces another obstacle

A move to position a Bronx golf course for a New York City casino license may be thwarted by a lack of political support to change the course's parkland designation, in what could turn out to be a sequel to a Queens scenario.

In an attempt to develop a casino hotel on the site, Bally's purchased the lease rights to the golf course that was formerly known as Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx last year. The land in question is currently classified as parkland; therefore, to change that designation, legislation would need to be passed, which is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
