Bally's Evansville casino scammed of over $212,000 through phishing scheme

Police have been informed by Bally's Evansville officials in Indiana that the casino misappropriated over $212K as a consequence of a recent phishing scam.

Casino representatives claim that a construction company was working on the property. A caller who got through to Bally's venue executives said they were having issues with their work email and that they would be using a new email address. After that, the person sent Bally's an email requesting payment for the completed work, along with the routing number and bank account.

According to Bally's representatives, the casino paid the $212,671 bill before realizing that the call, the email that followed, and the bank account were all part of a scam. There is a current investigation.
