Belgium is planning to enhance its measures to protect against gambling addiction by introducing compulsory verification checks on gaming machines. This new legislation will mandate retail, hospitality, and leisure establishments to verify the age and identity of individuals using gambling machines. The goal is to overhaul Belgium's Gambling Law and address the inadequacies that exist in the current regulations, as acknowledged by Minister of Justice, Vincent Van Quickenborne. The Council of Ministers expedited the decision to impose ID verification requirements due to existing loopholes in the Gambling Law, which were considered insufficient for retail and leisure venues.
