Betfair wins judgement on VIP losses as care infringements

A commercial complaint against Betfair that sought to recoup £1.5 million in losses for a VIP customer was dismissed by the High Court of England and Wales.

The lawsuit alleged that Betfair "was operating unlawfully so that each individual bet he placed in that time was void" by violating its licensing terms.

The customer had a "gambling disorder of moderate severity," according to the evidence, but Betfair was unaware of it or should have been aware of it because the customer actively concealed it.
