BetMGM enales poker player liquidity in Michigan

In order to link its online poker players with those in New Jersey who are also using the iGaming platform, BetMGM has obtained regulatory permission in Michigan.

In late May, BetMGM submitted a petition to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, requesting permission to link its online poker rooms in Michigan and New Jersey. This week, the company's Multi-State Poker Submission Form was approved by the state gaming regulatory body.

BetMGM has received approval to combine its online poker player pools from New Jersey and Michigan. This development, announced in early November 2024, comes after a petition was submitted to the Michigan Gaming Control Board in late May 2024. By merging the player pools, BetMGM aims to offer larger prize pools and enhanced competition for its users in both states. This move places BetMGM among the few operators in the U.S. to link player pools across multiple states, following similar steps by PokerStars and WSOP.
With this merger, players in New Jersey will now have the opportunity to compete against those in Michigan, expanding the player base and potentially increasing the prize money available for tournaments. As part of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), this new player pool combination is expected to boost BetMGM's competitive position and the overall online poker landscape in the U.S..
