Betting scandal derails Tory political campaign amidst fears of revelation of more names

Amidst concerns that more Tory insiders may have bet on the general election date, the Conservatives are frantically trying to contain the scandal surrounding their gambling.

Four persons are reportedly the subject of an investigation by the Gambling Commission over claims they were unfairly taking advantage of bookmakers.

Despite evidence of a sharp increase in bets placed on polling day in July over the 24 hours prior to the Prime Minister announcing the election date, officials at the Tory campaign headquarters are not aware of any additional individuals implicated.
