Betworld247 operator fined €900k in Saudi Arabia for operating without a license

The Dutch Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) imposed a hefty fine on MKC Limited, the operator of betworld247.com, for operating unlicensed gambling activities.

The regulator found that MKC allowed games of chance without the proper license, breaking the KOA Act, the law governing Dutch gambling since October 2021.

Following an investigation, the KSA fined the company €900,000 after discovering that betworld247.com lacked sufficient technical measures to prevent Dutch customers from participating in betting, except for an IP block.

Despite not having a license, customers could easily sign up, log in, and play games of chance using their address details on the platform.

The imposition of a €900,000 fine on MKC Limited, the operator of betworld247.com, by the Dutch Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) showcases the seriousness with which the regulator takes unlicensed gambling activities. The KSA's investigation revealed that MKC had allowed games of chance on its platform without the necessary license, thereby violating the KOA Act, which has been governing Dutch gambling since October 2021.

One of the key findings from the investigation was that betworld247.com lacked adequate technical measures to prevent Dutch customers from participating in betting activities, except for implementing an IP block. This means that despite not possessing a license to operate in the Netherlands, customers could easily sign up, log in, and play games of chance using their address details on the platform.

The KSA's decision to impose such a hefty fine reflects the seriousness of the offense committed by MKC Limited. It serves as a stern warning to other operators that they must comply with the relevant licensing requirements to avoid facing similar consequences. This action also demonstrates the KSA's commitment to protecting Dutch customers and ensuring a fair and regulated gambling market in the country.

It will be interesting to see how this fine impacts betworld247.com and whether it will take immediate action to rectify the situation and obtain the necessary license to operate in compliance with Dutch gambling regulations. Going forward, it is crucial for operators to understand and respect the licensing regulations of the jurisdictions in which they aim to provide their services to avoid potential legal issues and penalties.
