Bookmakers benefit from a $35 billion World Cup betting boom.

According to researchers at Barclays PLC, a total of $35 billion would be gambled on the 2022 FIFA World Cup, a rise of 65% over the previous edition because to a spike in internet gambling during the epidemic.
Analysts anticipate that the increase in wagering will increase Entain PLC, the parent company of Ladbrokes, in profits. According to Barclays, Entain PLC has much more World Cup visibility than Paddy Power owner Flutter Entertainment PLC because of the former's greater prevalence in both Europe and Latin America.

The World Cup is arguably the most anticipated sporting event of the year in which it falls in, so overall, these figures bandied do not necessarily surprise me given the popularity of the competition globally.
