Bovada begins disabling West Virginia betting accounts after cease-and-desist

Bovada, a sportsbook and casino brand, started limiting West Virginia users' access to its services three weeks after the West Virginia Lottery Commission sent a cease-and-desist letter to the company's parent.

The notice, which emphasized that Bovada was in violation of West Virginia law, was sent by the West Virginia Lottery on June 26 to Harp Media B.V., which is based in Curaçao. Before taking legal action, the lottery gave Bovada 14 days to comply.
