Brazil Court of Auditors calls for ban on using support money for betting

The Federal Court of Auditors in Brazil has demanded a prohibition on using social welfare money for betting, following an appeal by the attorney general's office. After a two-day hearing, the Federal Supreme Court upheld the finance minister's emergency action to ban betting in Brazil using social assistance funds, such as the Bolsa Família programme. Bolsa Família offers state assistance to low-income families with the condition that their children attend school and receive vaccinations.
