Brazil senate approve sports betting legislation but reject online gambling

The Brazilian Senate has officially given its approval to a vital legislative measure that might lead to the establishment of a regulated sports betting sector in the country. While this marks a positive beginning, the approval comes with a condition: the Senate has chosen not to endorse any clauses related to online gambling.

Companies looking to participate in this swiftly growing industry will need a distinct license, which will be issued by the Ministry of Finance. These licenses, potentially costing up to US$6 million, will be valid for five years.
