Canadian authorities are attempting to seize US$650k from a trio that has been accused of money laundering through Canadian casinos.
According to court records, the suspect reportedly cashed out $610K in Canadian currency and purchased $250K worth of casino chips in July 2017.
Chinese high rollers frequently received loans from underground banks to bet in order to get around restrictions on the amount of money they could take out of the country. These proceeds, which were frequently mixed in with drug money, would subsequently be changed into casino chips and cleaned.
