British lawyer sentenced for stealing $1.85m to chase fake lottery jackpot

A renowned British attorney who stole £1.85 million from his clients' accounts and gave it to lottery fraudsters was given a four-year prison sentence.

The criminal admitted to stealing the money between 2015 and 2017 and entered a plea of guilty to one count of fraud by abuse of position in September.

The devoted Christian had earlier received a letter informing him that although he had won £825,000 in the Spanish Lottery, he would have to pay £41K in taxes in order to claim the prize because he was not a Spanish resident.
