Bronx residents undecided on willingness to establish casino

The possibility of a Bally's casino hotel eventually relocating to the Bronx, New York, has caused division among the local population.

Since a large number of people in the Bronx already gamble in one way or another, it makes sense to keep the tax money generated locally, where it may be utilized for community-wide projects.

On the other hand, some borough residents think that the Bally's gaming establishment, which has promised 3,500 new jobs, could boost the local economy. In almost all of the more than ten downstate casino bids, concerns about the harm that comes from easy access to gambling are competing with other factors, such as the creation of jobs and higher tax revenues.
