The remaining seasons of both clubs' campaigns have fallen short of the final objective. The Senators increased their offensive arsenal significantly, but their defense was a massive letdown, which keeps them out of the playoffs. Buffalo made significant strides this season as their young core significantly improved from the previous one. Similar to Ottawa, the Sabres had trouble keeping the puck out of their net. The Ottawa club is rested, and the Sabres are playing their third game in four nights. That is sufficient to give the Senators a minor edge in this match.
