The gaming industry is not happy about Bulgaria's new gambling taxes. This comes after a bill that would have increased the alternative gambling tax by 60% and the gambling license fees by an astounding 300% was approved by the National Assembly Committee on Budget and Finance.
The significant alterations have alarmed the Bulgarian Association of the Gaming Industry.
The association claims that the new taxes are disproportionate and may have unfavorable consequences. The measure would cause severe losses, even bankruptcies, and render the businesses of some operators unsustainable. The organization cautioned that as a result, the national economy might also suffer.
