California governor signs law allowing tribes to sue card rooms

A bill allowing California's casino-owning tribes to file lawsuits against their rival businesses was signed into law by the governor of California. Now that he has signed the Senate bill, tribes will have the legal right to request a judge to rule on their long-standing complaint that the state's card rooms are operating illegally and providing card games like pai gow poker and blackjack.

Some media outlets claim that taxes on cardrooms provide nearly half of the budget for some Californian cities. This means that a tribal win in court could put funding for police at risk.
