Cambodian Prime Minister bans casinos in two cities

New casinos in the southern coastal towns of Kep and Kampot have been outlawed by the prime minister of Cambodia. Bokor Mountain, which is already home to a casino industry, is exempt from the ban in Kampot Province.

Along with security and protection for well-known tourist destinations, his order states that the ban is designed with religious and cultural preservation in mind.

Only foreigners are permitted to enter any casino in Cambodia. Locals have been prohibited from gambling since 1996.
