Can you be prosecuted for online gambling?

There are some countries in the world which prohibit the online games which involve gamblin's among the member of the citizens. In these countries, they have laws put in place to punish anyone who engage in online gambling among the citizens. A friend told me that some countries prosecute the citizens who participate in online gambling. I want to ask that if this statement is actually true in some countries?

It is extremely obvious that some countries do not accept playing the online games the basic reason is that when you play the online games you could put yourself into trouble because the country is not accepting gambling activities whatsoever.
