Can you get in trouble for playing online poker?

We all know that different country has different rules when it comes to online gambling among the citizens. I was reading a local newspaper in which a person was being prosecuted for engaging in a particular website for gamblers. I think this shouldn't be a problem since he is using his money.
The question I am willing to ask the members of this forum is that can someone get into trouble playing poker games online?

I don't think that it is possible to get involved in online gambling and land yourself in trouble with anyone except if you are gambling in a country that gambling is not accepted as the activities to be indulged in.

You can only be affected negatively by online poker, when you engage in activities that go against the terms and conditions governing the casino. Gamblers should make sure to obey the rules, to be fair.
