Can you write lottery algorithm in python?

I have recently decided that I want to become a programmer and I want to focus on the lottery and gambling section. I have been confused if I should start with JavaScript or python even though I believe that python is multi-purpose and it is actually easy to learn especially for beginners. Is python usually used to write the algorithm of casinos? Will I be able to get a job if I finish my python program and I apply for openings?
