Canadian Football League opposes federal regulations on betting ads

The commissioner of the Canada Football League has stated his disapproval of a new bill that calls for national guidelines to address problem gambling and limitations on sports betting advertisements. He claimed that the leagues' actions had been successful in a letter to the Senate Transport and Communications Committee.

Additionally, the bill would forbid celebrities and athletes from endorsing sports betting if it were to become law. In the Senate, it has progressed beyond the second reading.
