Tournaments are for kids with something to prove. I been around long enough to know that in tournaments, luck outweighs skill. One bad beat and you're out, no matter how solid your game is.

See who's loose, who's tight, who can't bluff for crap. Them's where you find pockets to lift chips from. An observant poker player can make a mint moving from game to game, reading the action. Tournaments are for glory, cash games is where real pros go to make their living.
