Casino lobby faction claims US residents concerned about skill gaming

According to the nation's top casino lobby organization, uncontrolled skill gaming machines are causing Americans growing amounts of alarm. Over the past ten years, the gadgets have become commonplace in eateries, pubs, convenience stores, and grocery stores.

Slot machine-like in appearance and sound, skill games feature alleged "skill" elements that often call for the player to recognize a winning payline. A successful spin on a casino slot machine is automatically credited.

Additionally, skill machines differ in that they are currently unregulated in the majority of the states where they are found. They are not required to guarantee players a minimum payout percentage, they do not pay any federal, state, or local taxes, and they offer no consumer protections like preventing access to the games by minors.
