Casino operator seeking $300m tax relief to keep business afloat

Star Entertainment, the bankrupt casino operator struggling to maintain a $3.6 billion project just days after its grand opening, may receive tax relief.

The Queensland government is in negotiations with Star, which purports to require $300 million in immediate funding in order to maintain operations at Brisbane's central business district's Queen's Wharf precinct.

In addition to lobbying the government of New South Wales for financial relief, Star has casinos in Brisbane, Sydney, and the Gold Coast.
