Casino smoking expected to receive legislative review by numerous states in 2025

In 15 states with commercial gambling establishments, smoking is permitted indoors. It's likely that state legislators nationwide will take into account whether it's time to ban cigarettes and cigars and give gaming employees a smoke-free workplace by 2025.

Secondhand smoke's harmful effects have long been recognized. According to the CDC, there is no safe amount of secondhand smoke exposure, and casinos must be completely smoke-free in order to completely protect their employees and patrons. The majority of designated smoking areas are ineffective.

I believe the outcome of these legislative reviews will likely reflect the diverse values and priorities of each state. It will be interesting to see how lawmakers balance public health concerns with economic considerations and the preferences of the gaming community. The discussion will likely evolve as public attitudes shift, especially as awareness of health issues continues to grow.
