With the help of a £5,000 grant, an education charity is trying to better support primary-school students with limited English proficiency through live performances.
Using funds from the Channel Islands Lottery Fund, the Jersey Community Foundation has given Every Child Our Future funding to address literacy gaps.
The award will be used to support ten schools' worth of bilingual storytelling programs for more than 600 preschoolers and elementary school students.
English as a second language is taught to children aged three to five, and these performances are intended to both entertain and promote literacy.
