Cherokee Nation asks court to waive Arkansas casino litigation

A federal court has been asked to dismiss a lawsuit by the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, which is contesting its acquisition of an Arkansas casino license, by means of its business subsidiaries, Cherokee Nation Businesses and Cherokee Nation Entertainment, LLC.

In June, Cherokee Nation Entertainment was granted the exclusive gaming license for Pope County by the Arkansas Racing Commission. According to the state gaming agency, Gulfside Casino Partnership's second bid was ineligible for consideration.
