Cherokee Nation asks Supreme Court to dismiss November casino referendum

The Arkansas Supreme Court has been asked to halt a planned ballot referendum that would ask voters to revoke a casino license designated for Pope County. Cherokee Nation Entertainment is under the control of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

The 2018 gaming law in Arkansas is being amended by Local Voters in Charge to restrict the issuance of casino licenses by the Arkansas Racing Commission to projects in counties where the local electorate desires them.
