Chicago suburb mayor guilty of embezzling gambling revenues

One of Chicago's poorest suburbs, prosecutors had produced a "mountain of evidence" showing the mayor had embezzled money intended for the gambling profits. In Illinois, the state gives local governments fifteen percent of all video gambling revenues.

After determining that the actual amount was less than $100K, they decided not to prosecute the mayor for embezzling the full $147K that the prosecutors had claimed.
